## The design document of the journal sync
Historical design: this is the first Journal Sync design. Its original transfer sequence and discussion of possible storage backends are retained as history. For the maintained pipeline and storage-adapter design, read [Journal Replicator 2nd Edition](design_docs_of_journalsync_2nd.md) and the [Replicator architecture](design_docs/replicator_architecture.md). Use [Object Storage Setup](setup_object_storage.md) for supported client setup. A possible backend discussed here is not evidence that an adapter is available in the current release.

### Consideration and Conclusion
This design offers a novel approach to journal synchronisation without relying on CouchDB. It leverages PouchDB's journaling capabilities and leverages simple server-side storage for efficient data exchange. Hence, the new design could be said to have gotten a broader outlook.
