Painting

Priming

Prime them all in black, or for the wood pieces in a dark brown. If you dont have a dark brown primer, use a very dark brown paint on top of the black primer over the wood areas (Such as Americana Bittersweet Chocolate).

Stonework Painting

Do a heavy coat of dark grey over the stone surfaces, leaving black in the crevices. I used Stormy Grey from Craft Smart Zinc

Do a light coat (or heavy dry brush) with a light grey. I used Americana Slate Grey Slate Grey

Do a spotted dry brush of a dark green with brownish hues. You want this to be mottled. I used Americana Hauser Dark Green. Hauser Dark Green

Do the same, but a lighter touch over some of the same area with a lighter green. I used Americana Hauser Medium Green. Hauser Medium Green

Do a dry brush over the same area with an even lighter green. Focus on high surfaces and edges. I used Americana Hauser Light Green. Hauser Light Green

Wood Painting

Do a heavy dry brush on all the wood pieces of a medium brown. I used Americana Milk Chocolate Milk Chocolate

Do a light dry brush of a light brown on all the wooden pieces. I used Americana Honey Brown Honey Brown

Glue the wood pillars to 4 of the stone backs. Glue Pillars

You will want to do the gluing with the back against a floor tile, and use a banner bar on top as a reference to make sure the spacing is correct. Glueing

Main part done. You'll want to use openlock clips to hold the whole thing together. Main Part Complete Main Part Complete

Door Painting

Paint the doors bronze. I used Craft Smart Espresso metallic. Espresso Metallic

I hit mine with a dark brown wash. I used Citadel Agrax Earthshade. In hindsight, this step was probably not needed. Brown Wash

Hit the whole door with a very watered down turquoise. I used Reaper Master Series Copper Verdigris. Verdigris

Portal Disk Painting

Get some white into the lines and circles of the portal disk and frame.use very thin washes of white around the edges onto the surface of the disk with the white. I used Reaper Master Series Pure White 09039 Glow Effect

So for my final version, I actually used an airbrush for the white. I was not happy with how my washes were coming out. I used the process from Hobby Cheating 40: How to paint glowing runes . There's both a brush and airbrush version in the video.

Put a yellow ink into the lines, and cover over the white on the raised surface. I used Vallejo Game Ink Yellow 72.085 Yellow Ink

Flat Rounds

For the flat round disks, what you want to do is find images on google images, then print those on photo paper. Cut them in the round and glue them to the disks. I suggest covering them with a layer of modpodge to give them strength.

Banners

Supplies

This set comes with the conjurer's banner. The symbols on the banners for the Wizard's Sanctum series of encounters came from a post on rebrn . Mod Podge

To create the banners you will need:

  • Print the 4x png (attached) of the conjurer's banner at 600 dpi. Cut them out.
  • 8 prints of banner_bar.half.stl. Glued and painted gold.
  • Glue Stick
  • Mod Podge
  • Black Sharpie

Assembly

Use the glue stick to add glue to half of the banner, then fold around the banner bar. Banners

You can see some white on the edges. Use the black sharpie to eliminate this. Following that, cover the banners in Mod Podge to give them a somewhat cloth like texture (and to protect them from water). Banner
